Julia Crockett is a movement specialist, coach, and director. With over fifteen years of experience in the field, she has developed a singular approach to help artists cultivate physical freedom, an increased capacity for connection, receptivity to impulse, and a released, articulate body. Her primary area of focus is with actors and directors in the training of the physical instrument, development of character, and movement design.

Notable movement coach/director credits include: Sarah Paulson’s Emmy nominated performance as Linda Tripp in American Crime Story: Impeachment (FX), Emmy Rossum as Angelyne (Peacock), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Emmy Nomination for Rachel Brosnahan), Sarah Paulson’s Tony Winning performance in Appropriate (2nd Stage),  Mary Jane (MTC, Tony Nomination for Rachel McAdams), and more. In fashion and design, she has served as movement director/choreographer on projects for Bode, Alexander McQueen, and Interior. She has directed works for musicians Glasser, Aerial East, and design duo Chen & Kai.

Before launching her private practice, Crockett served as Instructor of Movement on the faculty of Tisch School of the Arts, NYU; Parsons School of Design, The New School; The Terry Knickerbocker Studio; and the Maggie Flanigan Studio. She currently teaches on-camera acting at Kimball Studio.

Crockett received her primary training from Nathan Flower (Meisner Studio Director, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU) and Danielle Liccardo-Massood (Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers). She trained in the Allan Wayne Work under Brenna Palughi.

Crockett holds all-level, drop-in group classes in both New York City and Los Angeles. These classes are designed to condition the body by strengthening, lengthening, and releasing habitual patterns of tension. Through a rigorous warm up, the aim is to access a more dynamic, articulate, and grounded instrument. From there, participants explore improvisational, unstructured movement and group composition. Come uncover deeper contact, tools for compelling composition, a deeper somatic awareness, and a greater sense of play.
